Pilotage
With every pilot a master mariner most of whom have had command of their own ships coupled with a seven and a half year Competent Harbour Authority endorsed training programme we feel puts Liverpool Pilotage Services in the Premier Division of Pilotage Services Worldwide. Our raison d’être is Piloting vessels in and out of the River Mersey which includes the Port of Liverpool, the Docks at Garston, the locks to the Manchester Ship canal and QE II Oil Dock, Bromborough River Wall and the Raynes Stone Jetty on the North Wales Coast.
Liverpool Pilots is engaged through a Contract for Services with the Competent Harbour Authority , The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company a subsidiary of Peel Ports to provide Pilotage Services within the compulsory district of the River Mersey. We at Liverpool Pilots with a history stretching back 250 years pride ourselves in giving each and every ship owner and his master a first class service in conning their vessels into or out of the River Mersey.

International Standards in Pilotage Operations
On the 9th December 2011 Liverpool Pilotage Services Limited were accredited by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance department as having met the International Standards in Pilotage Operations with its safety management system.
IMO Resolution A960
In December 2010 all the building blocks were put in place so that every pilot attains continual professional development and training meeting the International Maritime Organisation requirements of Resolution A960 “Recommendations on Training and Certification and Operational Procedures for Maritime Pilots other than Deep Sea Pilots”. This was achieved with Peel Ports support and Liverpool Pilots investment in its own in-house ship simulator.
